Cataclysm Leveling

So Cataclysm has been out for a while now and I have had a chance to use a few different Cataclysm leveling guide add-ons. I can Honestly say that Zygor’s and Dugi’s are b far the front runners and trend setters when It come to making quality leveling guides.

I used Zygor’s Cataclysm leveling guide on a new mage character and I really like how easy it it to use. The new interface system is better and even easier to use that the pre-cataclysm version. It is also more versatile to fit individual preferences on window size location and what types of quest information you want it to display. It also really saves a ton of time by using optimum quest pathing, which you don’t get with free addons. In addition it gives more detailed description of what needs to be done on those quests that aren’t always obvious on what you are looking for in order to complete the quest in question. For example: in a quest were you have to find 10 thingamabobbers, it will actually tell you that thingamabobbers look like purple plants and are hanging from trees in this or these locations. This is just one example, the point is their is no guess work involved, just quick leveling. So you don’t have to spend valuable leveling time wondering if you are in the right place or looking for the right things in the correct order. It’s all done for you. It tells you when and where to set and use your hearthstone. Many little things like this that shave tons of time off your leveling time.

Dugi’s Also has many of these features. The user interface is a little more complicated, however it has more options to offer the user, although some of the extras you have to pay more for. Dugi’s is more popular in European Servers and Zygor’s is more popular on US servers. All and all they are both very good and well worth getting.

So lets start with the Originator, Zygor’s guides. Zygor’s was a real trailblazer in the in-game leveling guide business. They were the first and the fastest leveling quest guide on the market and also Zygor’s was the originator of many of the best features that have been copied and emulated by many of the other guide creators out there today.

As of when I wrote this they have the record for 1-85 leveling in record playing time. The shear effectiveness of this guide makes it a favorite of the pros and at the same time, it’s extreme ease of use make it a favorite of total rookies and part time players. If you are looking for the best solo leveling guide with little to no grinding necessary. This is the guide for you.

They also throw in some extras at no cost. Including an in game talent advisor. This is the guide I use for Solo-questing. Now I know they are working on a dungeon leveling guide, but I don’t think it’s been released yet. So for now I will just say that it is coming eventually, possibly when Cataclysm releases. There is an option to get horde or alliance guides alone, or there is a discount if you buy them both together. FYI- As far as cost goes they are pretty close. Zygor’s is a few bucks cheaper, although if you get Dugi’s Ultimate all-in-one guide, Dugi’s might be a better value, but only if you think you will use all the guides that come with it.(More on that in the Dugi’s article below this one)

So, the other WoW Cataclysm leveling guide worth looking at is Dugi’s Ultimate WoW guides. Dugi’s has some good things going on as well, and have a very solid reputation. Like I was saying in a previous post, content wise, the biggest difference is Dugi has a current dungeon leveling guide.( Zygor may also have one at this point. I know they were working on theirs)

One of the other things that differ is the interface system. It is a bit like comparing apples and oranges though, because they are just different, I’m not sure I can say that one is better than the other it really just comes down to person using them. I will include a promotional video for Dugi’s below, that way you can get a good idea what the layout differences could look like. I should point out that some of the interface is similar and some is very different.

Dugi’s is a bit more popular on the European realms and non-american realms. (Zygor’s is more popular on american realms.) This is probably because that’s where I think they started out. As far as price goes Dugi’s Cataclysm Leveling Guides are a few bucks more if you get the complete Ultimate guides setup, but if you get that more expensive package you get all the freebies thrown in at no extra cost. Solo leveling, Dungeon Leveling, Daily guide, Events Guide, Gold Guide, PVP guides and what not. So it can be a better value if you want to take full advantage of them all.
